Years of Production: 2019–2021
Glyphset: Latin Extended-A

With great support of ↗ Bruce Kennett and others, I was able to get my hands on original drawings of an unfinished typeface by W. A. Dwiggins for (Mergenthaler) Linotype in 1947. It was intended as an answer to Monotype’s «Times New Roman», but after years of development under art director C.H. Griffith, it was finally abandoned in favor of licensing the «Times» itself. I wanted to keep the warm and organic quality within my interpretation for a lively texture, in true with Dwiggins’ intent and style. For the Italics I went back even further in time, to one of the best punchcutters to ever do it: Robert Granjon, who in turn served as inspiration for Stanley Morrison’s work.

Family Overview (2 Styles)

The current interpretation of this font serves as an organic, warm text font and turns out to be a very pleasant choice for printing, especially in small sizes. The combination with a slightly more daring italic makes the pair an explicit choice for mass text and especially books of all kinds. A high-contrast display cut is in the making for the future and the expansion of the family.
